Lake Merritt Channel Opening

The Renegades took part in the official reopening of Lake Merritt Channel, a small inlet that serves as a connector between the lake and the estuary. In the near future, this opening will allow boat traffic between the 2 bodies of water. Photos courtesy of John Kirkmire.

Try Dragonboating – Renegades Recruiting Paddlers

If you’ve ever been curious about the sport, or that group of people who ply the waters of Lake Merritt in dragonboats every Saturday and Wednesday, here’s your chance to learn more!  We’re on a recruiting drive – you may see us around the lake handing out postcards, or you may see them on display at local gyms, coffee shops, retail stores, and rec centers in the area.

Come paddle with the Oakland Renegades, try it out for free.  No experience is necessary, we provide equipment and instruction.  All you need is the right attitude – a willingness to work out!  Wear comfortable athletic clothing, something you won’t mind getting at least a little wet.

Saturdays from 10:15 – noon, Wednesdays from 5:45 pm to 7pm.  Looking forward to seeing you there!
